Sokka is trained by the Kyoshi Warriors while Aang lets the villagers' reverence go to his head. Meanwhile, Zuko and his uncle, Iroh, have their ship repaired at a Fire Nation port commanded by a rival, Commander Zhao.Īs Aang and his friends begin crossing the expansive Earth Kingdom, they are captured by the female warriors of Kyoshi Island. Aang learns of his people's genocide at the hands of the Fire Nation his anger triggers his Avatar State, which in turn alerts the world that the Avatar has returned. While journeying to the North Pole, Aang, Sokka, and Katara explore Aang's former home, the Southern Air Temple. After realizing that he is the long lost Avatar, they agree to accompany him on his travels to master the other elements. Katara and Sokka fly in on Appa to save Aang from the Fire Nation. Prince Zuko attacks the Southern Water Tribe seeking to capture the Avatar, Aang. Meanwhile, his unfreezing attracts the attention of the Fire Nation's Zuko intent on capturing him. After Katara frees him, she discovers that he is an airbender and the siblings take him to their home village in the Southern Water Tribe. Sokka and Katara, two teenage siblings living in the South Pole, discover Aang and his pet flying bison, Appa, trapped in an iceberg. However, they must evade a critical foe, Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation, who wants to capture Aang. The original pilot episode never aired but can be seen on the sixth disc of The Complete Book 1 Collection. The final two chapters comprise the season finale. The first two chapters comprise the series premiere. Aang confronts and defeats Ozai while the Order of the White Lotus takes back Ba Sing Se from the Fire Nation. Aang and his friends face the self-proclaimed "Phoenix King" Ozai, Azula (now crowned as the new Fire Lord by Ozai), and the Fire Nation army. On the day of Sozin's Comet, Fire Lord Ozai harnesses the comet's power to start a genocidal campaign to destroy the rest of the world. Aang and Zuko unlock the firebending secrets of the "Sun Warriors", Zuko helps Katara find the man who killed her mother, and Sokka and Zuko travel to a Fire Nation prison to rescue Sokka's father and Suki. After a series of events, he manages to gain the trust of the protagonists and becomes Aang's firebending teacher. Zuko confronts his father and defects from the Fire Nation. On the day of the solar eclipse, Aang's group and a smaller band of warriors launch a smaller invasion, which ultimately fails. The group recovers from the fall of Ba Sing Se, and from Aangs injury,travel to the planned invasion site.
